At the 11th Edition of the Bali Tourism Awards 2026, the tourism area developed and managed by PT Pengembangan Pariwisata Indonesia (Persero), or Injourney Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC), received the award for "Bali Leading Sustainable Tourism Economic Utilization for Local Comumunities".
The award ceremony, held on Monday (14 September) at the Bali Beach Convention Center at The Meru Sanur, The Nusa Dua, marked The Nusa Dua’s second consecutive recognition at the Bali Tourism Awards. Previously, at the 10th Bali Tourism Awards 2025, The Nusa Dua received the award in the category of " Bali Leading Sustainable Touirsm-Destination Management". These two recognitions demonstrate The Nusa Dua’s consistency in implementing destination management that not only maintains the quality of the area and visitor experience, but also takes into account the interconnection between tourism, the environment, and surrounding communities.
General Manager of The Nusa Dua, I Made Agus Dwiatmika, said that this year’s award holds particular significance as it highlights the aspect of economic utilization for local communities as an integral part of destination sustainability.
“For us, sustainability is not only about protecting the environment and maintaining the quality of the area, but also about ensuring that tourism activities create benefits that can be felt by local communities and businesses around the destination. This recognition encourages us to continue ensuring that the growth of The Nusa Dua goes hand in hand with the creation of broader economic and social value,” said Agus.
According to Agus, the achievement was made possible through the collaboration of various stakeholders within The Nusa Dua ecosystem, ranging from tenants and tourism industry players to communities in surrounding villages, local governments, and other stakeholders.
As an integrated tourism destination, The Nusa Dua continues to develop an ecosystem that connects accommodation, MICE, recreation, public spaces, and various supporting facilities within a single destination. This approach is further strengthened by the implementation of sustainability principles in the area’s operations, including environmental and waste management, environmentally friendly transportation, the utilization of new and renewable energy, and improvements to the quality of public spaces.
The values of Tri Hita Karana are also incorporated into ITDC’s approach to maintaining balance between human beings and the environment, among people, and with the values that are an integral part of Balinese community life.
“This achievement demonstrates that sustainability needs to be positioned as an integral part of how a destination is managed, rather than merely as an additional initiative. With over five decades of experience, ITDC continues to strengthen its role as a master developer and asset manager, managing destinations not only from the perspective of infrastructure and facilities, but also by creating a tourism ecosystem that generates economic, social, and environmental value.
