The Mandalika, September 22,2026 – PT Pengembangan Pariwisata Indonesia (Persero), or InJourney Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC), in collaboration with the Fire and Rescue Agency (Damkartan) of Central Lombok Regency, conducted a test of the fire protection system at the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit on Wednesday (September 16). The test was conducted to strengthen the readiness of the circuit’s safety facilities and infrastructure, particularly ahead of the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia 2026, scheduled for October 9–11, 2026.
Chairman of Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia 2026 and ITDC Director of Operations, Troy Warokka, said that testing the fire protection system is part of ITDC’s efforts to ensure the readiness of the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit not only in terms of event operations, but also safety aspects.
“The Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit has a high level of utilization throughout the year. As of September 2026, a total of 132 events has been recorded in the circuit’s activity calendar, comprising 89 motorsport events and 43 non-motorsport events, with total utilization reaching 244 days of activity. The high intensity of activities makes the readiness of safety facilities and infrastructure essential to provide protection for visitors, participants, workers, and all parties conducting activities at the circuit,” he said.
With such a high level of activity, the readiness of safety infrastructure is essential to provide a safe and comfortable environment for visitors, workers, event participants, communities, and all parties conducting activities within the circuit area.
Troy added, “Moreover, we will soon host the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia 2026, which will involve large-scale activities and mobility. This joint test with the Central Lombok Damkartan is part of our efforts to ensure that the supporting safety systems can function properly when needed.”
The test was conducted on the upgraded pump system and hydrant network. The results showed that the hydrant water jet could reach a vertical height of 20–25 meters and a horizontal distance of 35–45 meters, supported by a 30-meter flexible hose to provide greater operational flexibility for personnel in handling fire emergencies.
The fire protection system is supported by a main water supply with a capacity of 300 m³, as well as a three-layer pump system that operates according to requirements. The system is also equipped with a backup pump that can continue to support water supply in the event of a power outage. In addition, a pressure control mechanism is available to protect the network, along with connections that enable fire and rescue units to provide additional water supply and pressure when required. This layered system provides additional support in responding to various emergency situations.
Head of the Central Lombok Regency Fire and Rescue Agency, H. Supardan, S.Sos., M.Si., explained that the readiness of the fire protection system is an important element in supporting emergency response, particularly at facilities with high levels of activity.s
“Based on the survey conducted by the Central Lombok Damkartan team, the fire protection system at the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit is functioning properly and is ready for use. As part of the improvement process, we recommend adding directional signs leading to the hydrant points to facilitate identification and access during emergency situations,” said H. Supardan.
This test is a continuation of ITDC’s efforts to strengthen the safety and fire protection systems at the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit. These efforts are not only aimed at supporting the implementation of the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia 2026, but also at strengthening the circuit’s readiness as a venue for various national and international events on a sustainable basis.
“Safety systems must be ensured to function properly before they are actually needed. Therefore, we are not only strengthening the infrastructure but also testing it under operational conditions. Alhamdulillah, based on the test results, everything functioned well. Through these efforts, we want everyone who visits, works at, or enjoys various events at the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit to feel safe and comfortable,” Troy concluded.
