The Golo Mori, October 5, 2026 — PT Pengembangan Pariwisata Indonesia (Persero), or InJourney Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC), through The Golo Mori, successfully hosted the Golo Mori Sunset Run (GMSR) 2026 at The Golo Mori area, West Manggarai Regency, East Nusa Tenggara, on Saturday (October 3).
Entering its second year, GMSR 2026 recorded 524 registered participants, exceeding the target of 500 registrations. Public enthusiasm continued even after the official registration period closed, as reflected in the high number of requests to participate. The event was also attended by invited participants from stakeholders and sponsors, in addition to the registered participants.
This year's GMSR offered participation packages with facilities based on the ticket purchase period, including race packs, jerseys, and finisher medals. These offerings complemented a distinctive sporting experience, allowing participants to enjoy the natural scenery and sunset atmosphere at The Golo Mori.
Carrying the theme #BeyondTheLimits, GMSR 2026 encouraged participants to push beyond their personal limits through the 5K Fun Run and Fun Walk categories. The event also carried the spirit of #FloresBangkit, an invitation to foster optimism and strengthen collaboration in supporting tourism development in Flores.
General Manager of The Golo Mori, Wahyuaji Munarwiyanto, said that the GMSR is part of the destination's sport tourism development efforts, connecting the appeal of the destination with community involvement.
“The number of participants exceeding our target serves as an encouragement for us to deliver an even better experience. Through Golo Mori Sunset Run 2026, we aim to invite participants to push beyond their personal limits while enjoying the beauty of The Golo Mori. The spirit of Flores Bangkit also reminds us that collaboration and togetherness are important elements in supporting regional tourism,” said Aji.
The event brought together sports enthusiasts, running communities, and local residents in an experience that combined physical activity, natural beauty, and togetherness at The Golo Mori.
For the event, The Golo Mori collaborated with Komodo Runners as the race management team to support the technical organization of the run. Meanwhile, Tribun Booking served as the ticketing partner, facilitating convenient registration access for participants. An increase in the number of sponsors and partners compared with the previous year also strengthened support for the event.
GMSR 2026 also involved local volunteers to support participant services and event operations. Their involvement provided local residents with opportunities to gain experience in event organization while playing a direct role in developing tourism activities in the area.
“Based on evaluations from last year's event, the organizing committee made several service improvements, including streamlining the race pack collection and re-registration process. We also added directional signage at strategic points, strengthened coordination among the organizing team, and provided volunteer training supported by field orientation,” he explained. These measures were aimed at providing clearer information and helping participants take part in the event activities more comfortably and orderly.
From a health and safety perspective, the event was supported by medical personnel from three partners and medical service areas to assist participants requiring medical attention during the event. Coordination among the organizing committee, race management team, volunteers, and medical personnel was also prioritized to support participant safety and the smooth running of the event.
Beyond the sporting activities, GMSR 2026 provided opportunities for local Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to offer culinary products to participants and visitors through a designated selling area provided without rental fees. The presence of local MSMEs was expected to expand promotional and transaction opportunities while introducing a variety of local culinary products as part of the destination experience.
The GMSR 2026 series concluded with a Sunset Ceremony featuring musical performances, cultural presentations, participant awards, and a door prize draw.
“Through a combination of sports, entertainment, and community involvement, GMSR 2026 is expected to strengthen The Golo Mori's appeal as a sport tourism destination while creating opportunities for local businesses and the surrounding tourism sector to benefit economically,” Aji concluded.
