The Mandalika, November 20, 2024 – In an effort to improve community welfare in The Mandalika, Central Lombok, NTB, PT Pengembangan Pariwisata Indonesia (ITDC) has implemented a series of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs delivering tangible benefits to the local community. These initiatives include the donation of proceeds from a charity auction for accelerated stunting intervention, hydroponic business development training for the Pokdarwis of Kuta Village, and free health check-ups for children in The Mandalika, held on Wednesday (20/11) at the Pertamina MotoGP Experience Gallery.
Collaboration with various parties, including the State Property and Auction Service Office (KPKNL), Mandalika Grand Prix Association (MGPA), Universitas Mataram, Kuta Health Center, and the Gugah Nurani Indonesia Foundation, has been key to the success of these activities.
To address stunting in Prabu Village, ITDC and KPKNL Mataram donated Rp40,120,050 from the MotoGP 2024 merchandise charity auction. The funds were allocated to provide supplementary nutritious food for 120 days to pregnant women suffering from Chronic Energy Deficiency, supported by health workers and Kuta Health Center. This program continues previous efforts that have assisted 32 children categorized as stunted and wasted. Prabu Village was chosen because it falls outside the primary focus of the Mandalika Health Center, prompting ITDC to provide additional support for stunting intervention. Furthermore, the remaining auction proceeds of Rp44,298,985 were distributed by MGPA and KPKNL to orphanages, underprivileged children, and the elderly around The Mandalika area.
ITDC’s Director of Operations, Wenda R. Nabiel, stated, “As part of our commitment to delivering a positive impact on the communities surrounding The Mandalika, ITDC continues to roll out targeted and sustainable programs focused on health, education, and economic empowerment. We believe that the success of The Mandalika tourism area is not only measured by physical development but also by the well-being of the people who are integral to this ecosystem.”
In the area of economic empowerment, ITDC conducted training for the Kuta Village Pokdarwis managing the hydroponic business “Hydroku.” The training aimed to enhance production capacity and business management to meet growing local market demands. Facilitated by speakers from the Faculty of Agriculture at Universitas Mataram and the Lombok Hydroponic Community, 20 Pokdarwis members were equipped with theoretical and practical knowledge, including site visits and a 3-6 month mentorship plan. To further support this initiative, ITDC provided greenhouse optimization assistance to boost production and develop the “Hydroku” hydroponic business.
Additionally, free health check-ups were conducted for 51 children from the Mandalika Child Learning Centre (MCLC) and orphans from the surrounding area as part of ITDC’s anniversary celebrations. The check-ups covered dental health, Body Mass Index (BMI), nail and ear hygiene, and hemoglobin levels for adolescent girls. Children also received health education and hygiene kits. This program aims to raise awareness of the importance of health and sanitation in supporting children’s optimal growth and development.
“Through integrated initiatives in health, education, and economic empowerment, this approach not only supports local community development but also strengthens The Mandalika’s position as a sustainable and inclusive tourism destination built on collaboration,” Wenda concluded.
