Mandalika, West Nusa Tenggara, 18 September 2026 — The high enthusiasm for the international racing event Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia 2026 has driven increased demand for accommodation and connectivity to West Nusa Tenggara (NTB). Three weeks ahead of the racing event, which will take place from 9–11 October, accommodation occupancy in Lombok during race week has reached nearly 100 percent.
Anticipating the high demand, InJourney continues to coordinate with various stakeholders to increase accommodation capacity while strengthening flight connectivity to and from NTB. During the event period, a total of 66 additional flights has been recorded, most of which will be operated using wide-body aircraft.
These capacity enhancement efforts are part of the readiness of NTB’s tourism ecosystem to welcome tourists and spectators from various regions and countries. The aviation and tourism SOE holding company, PT Aviasi Pariwisata Indonesia (Persero), or InJourney, together with PT Pengembangan Pariwisata Indonesia (Persero), or ITDC, Mandalika Grand Prix Association (MGPA), the West Nusa Tenggara Provincial Government, and other relevant stakeholders, continue to strengthen cross-sector coordination ahead of race week.
Event readiness was directly reviewed through an inspection of various facilities at the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit in the Mandalika area on Thursday (17 September). Previously, InJourney, together with various stakeholders, held a discussion forum to align readiness across various sectors, ranging from the circuit and race operations, transportation and connectivity, security, and accommodation to community involvement. These efforts are aimed at ensuring that the increase in tourist arrivals during the racing event is supported by sufficient capacity and quality services throughout the tourists’ journey.
InJourney President Director Maya Watono said that the high demand for accommodation and flights demonstrates the strong enthusiasm for Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia 2026. Therefore, InJourney continues to encourage cross-sector coordination to ensure that tourists’ needs are anticipated from before their arrival until their stay in NTB.
"We continue to coordinate with all stakeholders to ensure that exis ting capacity can be further expanded, both in terms of accommodation and flight connectivity. These efforts certainly cannot be carried out by one party alone, especially as this is an international-scale event involving a broad ecosystem. Therefore, readiness and benefits must also be developed through mutual collaboration," said Maya.
Through ITDC, InJourney is also preparing a new experience for tourists who wish to attend the international racing event. To enhance the visitor experience, an Official Camping Ground has been introduced as an accommodation option for spectators who want to experience the MotoGP atmosphere more closely. The Camping Ground is located in the western zone of the Kuta Beach Park area, The Mandalika, and will begin operating on 8 October 2026, one day before race weekend.
Maya also added that Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia is not merely an international sporting event but also serves as a catalyst for the growth of Indonesian tourism.
"Therefore, we are ensuring that the sustainability and quality of this event become a shared priority. Continuous improvement must also be carried out to strengthen the destination's appeal and readliness. However, this cannot be dome in silos. It requires concerted efforts from all stakeholders, from the central and regional governments to industry players, to remain committed to creating a much greater positive impact," Maya emphasized.
Strengthening connectivity is one of the measures taken to anticipate increased mobility during the event period. During Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia 2026, a total of 66 additional flights to and from NTB have been recorded. The additional flight capacity is expected to provide tourists with more access options while supporting smooth mobility throughout race week.
On the accommodation side, high demand has also driven occupancy rates across NTB to a high level. Chairperson of the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) NTB, Ni Ketut Wolini, said that accommodation occupancy ahead of the event has reached nearly 100 percent and is expected to increase further as the event approaches. Currently, the number of hotels and accommodation establishments in West Nusa Tenggara Province stands at approximately 1,560 units, spread across various areas.

This demomstrates the high enthusiasm and demand for accommodation in NTB during the event period," said Ni Ketut Wolini. According to her, the high demand also presents an opportunity for the tourism industy to imrove service readliness and ensure that tourists have the best possible experience during their stay in NTB.
Therefore, cross-stakeholder collaboration continues to be directed toward ensuring that the tourist experience extends beyond the circuit. Tourists are also encouraged to extend their stays and explore various destinations, culinary offerings, MSME products, as well as the cultural richness and local experiences offered by NTB.
With accommodation capacity, flight connectivity, and the readiness of various supporting sectors continuing to be strengthened, Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia 2026 is expected not only to deliver a world-class racing experience, but also to serve as an opportunity to drive tourism and economic activity across NTB.
